On 22nd September, RTÉ TWO will go back to being called RTÉ 2 and get a complete new look.

RTÉ Two is on Virgin Channel 876 in Northern Ireland.

EXCLUSIVE: Virgin Media to 'soft' launch new firmware update starting on Tuesday.

Virgin Media sources has told Media Boy HQ today that Virgin will begin installing a soft launch of a new firmware update to the TiVo boxes.

The update will change the look of the user interface, improve the start up time and offer other small changes/improvements.

To get an idea of the new look if you go to the colour scheme is the same with the purple background, white text and the new red Virgin Media logo.

A few regions will get it on Tuesday with the majority of the boxes to be updated by October 28th.

Viacom: Viacom Closes Acquisition of Channel 5.

The following is from Viacom:

Viacom International Media Networks, a division of Viacom Inc., today announced the completion of its £450M acquisition of Channel 5 Broadcasting Limited from Northern & Shell Media Group.

The deal, which was announced on 1st May this year, was closed this morning after receiving unconditional clearance from the European Commission.

Local TV on MB Blog: Made in TV confirmed two channels to launch in Bristol and Leeds on Virgin Media.

Local TV Broadcaster "Made in TV" has confirmed the following tonight on Twitter:
  • Made In Bristol TV launches on Virgin Channel 159 on October 8th.
  • Made in Leeds to launch on Virgin Media.

Rumour: Is more CSC Media / Sony channels on way to Virgin Media?

Rumour sources has tonight told Media Boy HQ that movies4men, True Drama and True Movies 2 is maybe set to launch soon on Virgin Media.

NOTE: No launch date was given and still to be confirmed by Virgin Media sources.

Virgin Media have added the following Entertainment channels to the M Package until December 1st:

Radio Times: Sky Movies Aliens HD to launch next week for three weeks.

According to Radio Times Sky Movies Sci-fi (Also in HD) will be rebranded as Sky Movies Aliens (Also in HD) from next Monday to until September 22nd.

Also viewers in Brighton & Hove can now turn into tests for Latest TV (Launching on Thursday). Latest TV will also launch on Virgin Channel 159 in the Brighton & Hove area.

Local TV on MB Blog: Ofcom reveal launch dates for Local TV for Southampton and Oxford.

Ofcom has given "That's TV" the go ahead to launch two local TV Channels within two weeks of the posted date.

From October 22nd Local TV Broadcaster That's Solent can launch on Virgin Channel 159 in some Southampton areas only.

From November 5th Local TV Broadcaster That's Oxford can launch on Virgin Channel 159 in some Oxford areas only.

Broadcast: Sony completes CSC acquisition.

Broadcast is reporting that Sony Pictures Television has completed its acquisition of CSC Media Group and its 16 UK channels.

The Hollywood studio has finalised a deal first agreed in June with private equity backer Veronis Suhler Stevenson, which will give it access to a slew of music, movie and kids channels as well as two Freeview slots.
